Hello, I’m Anita!
Travel enthusiast. Adventure seeker. Nature lover.
Travel has been an important part of my life as long as I can remember.
My early years were spent in Minnesota. For most of that time, my summer breaks involved international travel or a road trip. The very first international trip I went on was at age two to India. My family would spend the entire summer in India with my grandparents, aunties and uncles. When we did not visit India, my dad would take on summer research opportunities at universities around the country. We would road trip as a family in our gray station wagon to California and other places, visiting National Parks, and other attractions.
Some years later, I had a penpal – another horse crazy girl like me – and after lots of handwritten correspondence, I visited her in England. I was 12 and it was my first truly solo international trip. Since I was an unaccompanied minor, I had an airline escort and sat in first class just behind the pilot’s cabin and flight attendant station – my first and only time in first class. I enjoyed every minute – especially horse riding with a like-minded girl my age in the English countryside.
After my family relocated to California, I started university and signed up for a study abroad program in Switzerland. I think every college student should do a study abroad program. I was on my own for a couple months, made friends, practiced my French (I have since forgotten most of it though – ha). During my program, I had free time and was able to explore a lot around Europe.
Since then, I have done solo trips to all seven continents, exploring lots of amazing places, international (Antarctica, Cuba, Brazil, etc) and domestic (national parks including Yellowstone, Rocky Mountains, Carlsbad Caverns, etc) along the way. I am a curious person, I especially enjoy off the beaten path destinations with a nature and wildlife focus. There is so much to see and do in the world. I hope I can encourage you to have meaningful travel experiences by sharing my stories and photos.
