So, you’ve booked your Antarctica expedition and now worried about freezing? Same thing happened to me! Being from Southern coastal California – where it does not get cold – I was concerned about staying warm. I booked my Antarctica expedition around Black Friday – lots of travel deals were running then – which left me with only a month to prepare. I ended up overpacking. It isn’t a huge deal, it just made my luggage a bit heavier. Having completed my trip, I am happy to share my everything I learned! My essential packing tips are everything you need to…

  • Antarctica Awaits: Solo Traveler’s Guide to the Seventh Continent

    Antarctica,  Cruise,  Nature,  Solo Travel

Antarctica is the world’s largest and coldest desert which spans roughly 5.5 million square miles. It was absolutely incredible, the massive glaciers, the wildlife viewing, and the very peaceful feeling of being completely off the grid. If you’re looking for a remote destination with beautiful scenery in every direction, this is it. When I decided I was going to Antarctica, I did so much research and planning.  It is not as far or cold as you might think. From where I live in California, Antarctica is approximately 7,500 miles away and India is nearly 10,000 miles away. Antarctica is such…

  • My Australian Adventure: Solo Traveling Through Queensland

    Australia,  Nature,  Solo Travel

Overview Australia has been on my list of places for a long time because of all the wildlife, scenery and activities.  I also have friends and relatives there. Travel was limited during the Covid pandemic and Australia especially was on a strict lockdown.  Australia just opened up and every state had different Covid policies for tourists.  I just stayed in Queensland and split time between Brisbane and Cairns.  This was a true solo trip, I used public transportation, organized my entire itinerary and I had individual activities booked, but the trip itself was not a guided group tour as I…

Each day had a planned itinerary that was posted for the passengers in the morning. However, the Antarctica expedition guides and ship were very dependent on weather and water conditions. The weather changed quickly, and that changed the plan for the day. This is a recap of what a typical day on a G Adventures expedition was like. Mornings It started with a wake-up call from our expedition leader and he gave an overview of the day. He had a very strong Italian accent, and passengers were recording his morning wake up calls to save. People go to breakfast or workout…

  • My guide to El Salvador: Central America’s Hidden Gem

    El Salvador,  Nature,  Solo Travel

I consider myself an adventurous person, but if I was asked where I plan to travel to, I probably would not have mentioned El Salvador.  It’s not an area I knew much about before this trip.  A dear friend of mine is Salvadoran and when I found out her wedding would be in El Salvador, I was very excited to celebrate the special occasion and experience a bit of her cultural heritage.   El Salvador gets a bad reputation as an international travel destination due to safety concerns, some of which I also had.  I learned from my friend who has…
